You can move them outdoors or indoors based on your needs. Using this potato bag can resist overwatering. It is a great time-setting alternative if you want to start gardening.

How to Use Potato Planter Bags?

Now, the question is how to use potato planter bags for your garden. Don’t worry because the processes are simple and not that difficult as follows:

1.     Pick the Potato Seeds

First of all, you should choose the right potato seeds that are mature enough and have at least one eye that has sprouted. This kind of seed can be obtained from the common market.

Or if you want to, these potatoes are also available in online markets. You may cut out the parts that have one or more eyes sprouted to be used as the seeds.

2.     Bag the Seeds

You are ready to bag those seeds. For the planter bag, it is better to choose one that can hold at least 50 quarts of soil. If you are done, place this thing in a sunny spot.

You may need to mix this bag with compost or other mixtures of coir and potting soils. You may place the peat as well with the size of 4 inches deep.

3.     Let the Potatoes Grow

If the planter bag is big enough, you may place 6 to 8 seeds at the same time. Make sure to give enough space between each other, so that they have enough area to grow the roots.

Then, you can cover them again with a compost-coir mix that is 2 inches deep. Don’t forget to dampen the top layer of this mixture.

4.     Watering and Monitoring

Don’t forget to water this plant whenever the mix dries. Make sure that it is not soggy as well. Around two weeks after that, you may see the leafy green stalks emerge from the surface of the soil.

You may need to add more compost mix once in every one or two weeks. Usually, it is after you see the new stalks grow. However, you must stop it when the bag is already full.

In 6 weeks, you can see the tiny flowers there. Them few weeks after that, the stalks will wilt and turn brown. It is the right time to harvest and that is how to use potato planter bags correctly.
